GPS Navigation, Turn-By-Turn, Only On Sprint
Posted on Friday, September 02 @ 22:59:43 MDT by Christopher_Price

Sprint PCS Sprint has today launched both Garmin Mobile and TeleNav for select Sanyo phones. Using the built-in GPS functionality in 3G Sprint phones, Nextel-level GPS navigation is now available on both of Sprint's networks.

Garmin Mobile is $9.99/month for unlimited use.

I downloaded Garmin Mobile on my 7400 and all I can say is wow! Thanks for breaking the news Chris. It seems like Sprint Nextel's theme will be innovation and ARPU as opposed to having the most amount of subscribers. I think eventually they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Does anyone know exactly which phones contain the Garmin option? I've talked with Sprint's customer service, and they're totally clueless. I also called Garmin, and they acknowledged that only one of the Sanyo phones listed on their site is currently offered by Sprint. (I don't want that particular model, however, because it doesn't contain an MP3 player.) My guess is that the Sanyo MM-9000 may have the Garmin option. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!
