  Cingular: MEdia Net Portal Renovated
Posted on Saturday, March 12 @ 02:28:11 MST by Christopher_Price

One of the biggest criticisms of the AT&T; Wireless merger with Cingular has been Cingular's inability to incorporate mMode, and the mMode portal into Cingular. Today, Cingular has begun to address those complaints.

The MEdia Net Portal's homepage today was updated, and it attempts to strike a balance between mMode's graphically-rich portal and MEdia Net's minimalist approach. Features such as adaptive device support have been added, meaning that the homepage will best display on the device that you have, and will list content specific to that device (for example, MobiTV will not be listed on devices that do not currently support it).

However, the MEdia Net portal is still not as graphical as the mMode portal on more advanced phones, but this may have been due to how even some major high-end phones tend to stall loading mMode's backgrounds, and then graphical overlays.

Cingular employees have stated that this is the first part of the revisions, and that there is more than one major revision that will follow.
